Digg's New Toolbar Feature to Really Boost Traffic

For each page, the toolbar creates a shortened URL similar to TinyURL or bit.ly that starts instead with http://digg.com/. . . followed by a six-character code such as http://digg.com/d1gVha.>

This is pretty good stuff, I like the way digg.com is short enough a URL for a tinyURL. It picks up on the whole tinyURL trend that's blowing through the web.

I think this will really ramp up traffic on Digg once it is released.

Basically total available market for any tinyURL service = number of urls on the web.

With Digg, you add on momentum so that gives them a big headstart.

Most importantly, digg URLs get to be embedded in millions of twitter statuses and Facebook statuses that will seriously drive traffic from the upcoming realtime evolution of the web.

Facebook gets Democratic

Beginning today, we are giving you a greater opportunity to voice your opinion over how Facebook is governed. We're starting this off by publishing two new documents for your review and comment. The first is the Facebook Principles, which defines your rights and will serve as the guiding framework behind any policy we'll consider—or the reason we won't consider others. The second document is the Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, which will replace the existing Terms of Use

Zuckerberg says you can now go have a say...

What's interesting is how I always realize that Facebook keeps causing an uproar with every change that they make but ends up with massive PR and more users. Haha. Suckers...

As they say, any publicity is good publicity :)

How Facebook Nearly Got Killed

so I earnestly tried to talk Mark out of squandering his precious Harvard education on such a frivolous endeavor. "You think you're going to compete against Friendster and Orkut?" was the general outline of my argument.

A professor of Mark Zuckerberg's blogs about how he nearly killed off Mark's passion for starting up.

Indeed it is very important for Professors to give the right kind of encouragement!
